Patients volunteer to participate in clinical research trials for different reasons. Among them are:
- to find out if the investigational product can resolve or manage the patient’s medical condition better than the patient’s current medication in terms of less side effects, etc.
- to have access to the free investigational drug
- to have access to the investigational drug for patient’s medical condition for which there is no available drug yet
- to have access to free medical care of the patient’s medical condition as targeted in the clinical trial
- to contribute to the research effort of the pharmaceutical and medical community to come up with better medications for treatment of patients

Yes, you can stop participating in a clinical research trial anytime. You only need to inform the Investigator of the research trial so that the procedure for terminating patient’s participation will be done, i.e., termination visit to make sure the patient is fine and exiting the study without any side effect from the investigational product.
